That would be the thing to do. I've played Brothers in Arms, Call of Duty, Doom 3, Command & Conquer Generals, Rise of nations so far and the only one I've not had trouble with so far is Doom 3........
Rise of nations and C & C Generals are the worst for me, they just will freeze up. Brothers in arms will play for a while and then just quit to a blue screen re-boot. Call of Duty will play for intermittent amounts of time and then the screen just freezes and I have to do a hard re-boot.
Let me know if yours does this, because I'm yhinking that mine may be a hardware problem....

Thanks

Oh ya..one more thing ...go out to microsoft and download the latest version of DirectX..you system probably already has the latest...but mayhe reinstalling it might help. Also on the start bar go to accessories/system tools/system information..select the tools tab and run the DirectX Diagnostic tool. Good luck.

Pappy...Actually you just gave a partial tip to what you should be looking at or at least what could be a contributor..you see...Doom3 is the only OpenGl game on the list of games you play and is the only one that plays ok...all the rest of the games on your game list are DirectX games. This definatly sound like either some kind of driver issue or a game setup issue of some sort. You should go into the adavanced display property settings on the desktop then to the Geforce 6800 tab and look at your performance and quality settings. Select show advanced settings and try reducing the image settings from quality to performance tun off Vsync and even try turning off Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering. Then go back and experiment with the games. You can always reset them back to default if it doesnt help.

Pappy...even if you have the latest version of DirectX...try reinstalling it. I would just about bet my eye teeth that it is a problem related to DirectX. I dont think its a coincidence that the only opengl game you play plays ok. Worst case senerio...try refomating and reinstalling the OS and drivers.

Ok i reinstalled it and now it is fine. i played for a little while then i got out of the game and there was a blue screen. i believe it was about a software or hardware issue. i thought it might be the game but i remembered i did plug a mouse in the USB. i did this while windows was on and never rebooted. a friend told me that the blue screen was probly because of the mouse. i got back on the game and it is still fine so maybe it was the  mouse

Win XP media edition to me was just a pain in the rear......
Every time you put a movie or audio disc in the media center starts up and there is no way to turn it off.......
XP Pro is much more stable...
