BIOS A06 fixes this problem. You can read the fixes for the Driver Download file at the support site.
This is typical Dell. Bug = You can't flash BIOS. Fix = Flash BIOS.
They sent me a new Inspiron 6000d to replace my buggy 5160. I sent the 6000 back instead. It had a bad CD/DVD drive and a corrupted image loaded under Dell restore. It has a screen that won't close right and it was so warped that the left front was 1/4" higher than the other three corners.
What a piece of junk! No more Dell's for me!

I really have no clue why, but I restarted in safe mode - ran the bios update, and it worked. Everything is great.
As far as no more Dells for you - I think you're missing out bud, but that's my opinion. By the way, if you hate Dells so much, why are you on this message board?
I don't hate Dell at all. I am, however, extremely disappointed in their apparent lack of quality component selection in the newer models. That opinion is based upon my personal experience as a Dell multiple system owner:
Dimension 3000, Dimension 4700, two Inspiron 5160's, Inspiron 2200, two Inspiron 700m's.
