Make sure you've installed the notebook chipset software, system software, and make sure you've installed SP2 and all subsequent critical updates.

The chipset software refers to the Intel chipset drivers which you need to install in order that all your hardware is properly recognised within the operating system!

By chipset software do you mean BIOS software? Because i have already installed the device driver softwares for the modem, vga card, mouse and sound card, they are working fine.

Thanks.

Actually, in this case it means the SiS chipset software, since the 1000 uses a SiS chipset, not Intel.

I did all this but there is no driver for the chipset instead there are all the drivers for the agp card, sound card and the rest and also BIOS but there is no Chipset driver.

I'll try again

thanks for the reply just mail me if you have something new.

Bye.

Why not just visit support.dell.com, enter the service tag number, and choose Downloads?

I have searched for the chipset on dell website but still havent found it so went to SIS website but there had to put the exact motherboard number.

I even tried with google. But not knowing te series number made it more difficult.

Thanks.

well you'll only get usb2 functionality if you install sp1 or sp2 as those service packs contain the usb2 drivers.
