Dear Dell Community,

I own an Inspiron 1100 that was purchased around christmas time of 2003. I recently ran over this laptop (by accident, don't ask :smileytongue:). My truck weighs approximately 4500 lbs, and I thought my computer would be destroyed. I opened the cloth case, and to my amazement, it was all in one piece. There was not any visible damage to the plastic casing, keyboard, or trackpad. The only thing that seemed to be damaged was the LCD display. The display was pretty busted, so I plugged an external monitor into my trusty laptop. It worked fine! I recently replaced my busted 14.1" LCD panel with a new 15" LCD panel and it works like a truck never has run over it. I just wanted to give Dell a "round of applause" for making such great gear. Great Job Dell!!

Clearly your truck was defective.  :smileyvery-happy:  I suggest you sue the tire maker for their tires being too flexible.   :smileyvery-happy:

WoW!  I've seen  dropped, thrown, fallen, spilled on, but NEVER ran over.  Thats a shocker that after you ran over the laptop with a 2.5 ton truck that it still worked, wow.... I'm speechless ;p  Just figured I'd extend my congrats to you that it still works :) Go dell ! M

My 600m is not black, but is built just as strong, well I don't know if it is as strong as I have yet to put it to the ultimate test, when I run over with my car I will post back!

LOL, nice save.  I had an I1100 and it was on my dresser and sticking off just a little bit.  My cat tried to use it as a launching board and send it flying toward the wall.  Well to my suprise the laptop made a hole in the wall but nothing on the laptop broke.  Just a little drywall residue in the PCIMA slot and that was it.

I now have the i8500 and I have to say that they might feel a little flimsy at first but they do take a good beating and keep going.  If anyone has a black dell notebook they need to put a sticker on it saying

"The Black Knights always triumph!" LOL... Get it?
