Inspiron 2650 power not starting up

Question

Hi,   I have an Inspiron 2650 purchased in 2002. It has been working fine until the past few months when it doesnt even startup. I tried removing the battery and reconnecting but did not work. It happend when it was shutdown and rebooted since it was still. The power indicator in the adaptor glows and there is a mild beep continuously in the right side of the laptop. Im not sure what is causing this problem. If it is something that is minor please advise or if it needs professional support.   Thanks Naren.

Most likely, the system board has failed.

If your computer is under warranty - then your good to go, just call up Dell and schedule a dispach.  If it isnt, I'd assess the cost, and if its high (most likely it is) then I suggest selling your laptop off for parts and investing in a new one.  Best of luck :) mf
