Yes, but this is for access to the web when your not around a wireless network. It uses the cell phone networks.

I've got the exact same problem. I spoke with Verizon who gave me the same information as above and then spoke with Dell Wireless Support today (very important you talk to wireless support, no one else has a clue they just wanted me to flash the BIOS) and they knew about the issue. They told me it requires a motherboard replacement and gave me a dispatch number for pickup.

From what I was told, it sounds like a power consumption issue.

In case anyone else has a problem my case # is 100677934.

When I talked to wireless support on 5-4 they had no clue. I had a tech who thought I was crazy. Two, yes 2 hours , It wasn't until I had the verizon tech on the other line when the level two tech started to take notice and found that reference number, and quicky and abruptly said "ahh can't do anything for you until may 20. The day the part would be available. Call back then please". Its amazing every Verizon wireless employee knows about it but It seems Dell techs did not. I spoke with three of them between tuesday and wensday.

Lets save someone some time here, if anyone plans to get a Verizon wireless broadbandaccess plan, the Kyocera KPC650 and the Novatel v620 probably( is it all of the I6000's, Dell) will not work . Ask for the PC5220 pc card, and inform them you have a I6000.

Ive been given this info as to the prob.---the  point 010F cap.  affecting the CDS_CRST# signal.

What ever, I spent alot of wasted time with what should of been common knowledge. I'm glad you got a repair status. Ill just have to waste more of my time calling them back.

Spoke with a tech today who tells me that the new Inspiron 6000 motherboards should be available in the warehouse on May 20th. I'll be calling back to confirm and schedule a replacement.

I called Dell Tech. Thinking you had gotten a date to fix ( dispatch number as you put it) and referred to your case number. The techie said I needed to call back on the 20th. Two days later, they actually called me. I thought I was being Punked. I'm 0 for three for getting call backs. They claim they will call me on the 20th.

My monitor driver keeps getting corupted every couple of days when I've booted up.. I at first thought it was the verizon pc card at first but it has happened several times since. Anythink like that ,other drivers getting corupted, happenen to you.

Rock on

Unfortunately they sent me the exact same motherboard as I already had which of course does not solve the problem so now I've called and escalated the case. It is just crazy!

Hey Bradsjm, I have an appt. on tues. I'm unsure of what you meant by "sent you" didn' t
you have a repair tech come out? And how did you know it was the same one. What do I need to look for to make sure its a different ( new one)?
Out of all the people who bought I6000's the last month, I can believe were the only ones who use verizon wireless cards. Its kinda quite on this issue.

Yes, the main depot sent out the motherboard to the local tech. I knew it was the same one because they were identical to the one removed including the date and revision number etched onto the board (revision A00)

Can you keep us informed of what happened with the replacement you are getting and if it works?

Right now, I've escalated the issue with my Dell sales rep to get some answers.

Its installed, relating your story to the tech, We both are not 100% sure its a modified board. The rev. is the same but the box it came in said it was part no. Gxxxx.
According to the parts dept, whom  the tech called to confirm yours, mine and the techs  uneasyness that this is not a different board. the Dell Part No. is not necessarly on the board.
The dell tech support agent who has been calling me every few days swears its the new board.
Every indication looks like its an old board except for the part number on the box. I lent the pc card out to someone to test drive it., It might be a day or two, to test out the board.
I know this... the board was sent out to the tech may 26, I'm going to at this time give dell  and the tech assigned to me,. the benefit of our doubts, and say...... you might of had the new board in your hands. I,m guessing, Dell took the boards(old) and reworked what they needed to on those boards., and sent them out to us. If thats true, they are going to look like the old board, because it is, with some new parts......
Think.... may 20th.....dude ...every board prior

Yes this is a known issue but only on the Insp 6000 with the Verizon Novatel v620 CDMA PC card. Another card works fine on the computer and its a PC5220 CDMA , also from Verizon. So the issue is that there is a conflict between the Insp 6000 MOBO and the CDMA wireless card. All other PCMCIA/GPRS/CDMA cards work fine with the 6000. Just FYI.

The Novatel V620 and the Kyoceria KPC650 are the two newest and best performing cards out there right now based on the latest reviews.

I just received an update on my escalation and it appears that they did, in fact, send out an old motherboard despite the assurances it was the right one...

I have reviewed the case notes on this issue, it appears the motherboard that was sent recently was not the correct one that would fix this issue with the Verizon card.. I have submitted another request to dispatch the correct motherboard. I have been advised by our Wireless department that this motherboard will correct the issue with the Verizon card.

I got a new motherboard today and I mean it is definitely different. The part number on the case said X9237 and the motherboard itself has a revision label on it of A01 (the original board says A00)

Now I need to go into Verizon and try out the card with it and see if it works!
