I just wanted to add after reading several posts that my AC adapter LED, which is normally green when the battery is charging, is completely out. I tried plugging and unplugging it, but it will not com on.
I have the same exact problem except mine started with using a Car adapter and the computer sut down and has not started since. I was told to remove the batteries and plug them back in and then reinstall the ac power and it should power up but it doesn't do anything. Mine is a C840 don't think it matters any. Did you fine out anything yet??
Need some help quick, using my old standby computer!!
Sorry, I have not had a response. I called Dell because I heard that a lot of AC adapters were recalled for some reason. The tech at dell told me that my adapter was not recalled. However, he told me that the adapter was the source of my problem and said that Dell would send me another one just for goodwill. Can you believe it?
I found out that the XP was dammaged beyond repair and the laptop powersupply is damaged and I will have to send it off to a repair facility other than Dells to have it repaired. Lucky the Hard drive is ok!

Hard to believe, they wouldn't even talk to me because I didn't have the "Express service code" It's not anywhere on my computer so they said too bad!
Thanks for the response, I guess I will hire a computer guy to figure it out. It's like there is a fuse blown on the mother board.??
