Inspiron 8600 LCD 'transparency' or 'ghosting'?

Question

weird phenomenon with my inspiron 8600, radeon mobility 9600 pro and WSXGA screen.   when playing video or viewing webpages with dark or light backgrounds, i can see 'ghosting' of my desktop icons, as if my applications have some sort of 'transparency' setting.  this is the case with windows media player, media player classic, videolan/VLC, etc.   i am using my own installation of WinXP Pro, and have used both the drivers available here from Dell and more recently also the Omega-based drivers.  i cannot 100% recall if i also experienced this problem with the official drivers, so perhaps someone can confirm/dispute this?   perhaps i need a more specific INF for my monitor settings instead of just using the generic 'default monitor' drivers that microsoft provides? Hello tai4ji2x, Welcome to the Dell Community Forum, I would suggest for you to connect your system to an external Monitor .If the problem shows on the external Monitor then you maybe having a software or video card issue. If the problem is only seen on the LCD then their maybe a problem with the LCD. Hope that this helps. Thanks,

ok, i've been busy so i haven't been able to attend to this until now...   yes, i've now tried connecting a Dell 2001FP LCD, and it does not exhibit this problem.   since the last time i visited the forum, i've also come to observe that the laptop LCD also leaves 'residual imprints' of programs left running for long periods of time, almost like very old CRT monitors.
