5150 - replaced MOBO and still get orange light and no power

Question

I replaced the motherboard and still only get a flash or two from the orange led when i hit the power button and no power. My powerpack is good. Is it my battery? Did i just waste $400 on the mobo? Also anyone know where i can get the adapter to plug the fujitsu hardrive out of my 5150 into my dimension desktop? I ordered one from compusa but its for pin style 2.5' drives mine has the flat blade style plug. Thanks.

the flat blade comes off and the pins are under that.

Remove the battery. If the system will start, you may have found the problem.

If it won't, reseat the CPU, make sure the lockdown screw is in place, and check the memory. If it still won't run, hopefully the replacement board has a warranty.

How do you know if the AC adaptor is good? If it puts out 19v it doesn't mean it's good. That is a 3 function adaptor. The center pin function may not be working.

Whats the 3rd pin do? The thing comes on for like 3 seconds. The fan, hardrive and dvd all start to turn then it turns off. So my hold down screw has to be tight right? Well i'm taking it to the service center on campus. What a waste of money.
