How is it more future proof?

Whatever you decide, get the 3-year warranty.

My preference would be for the 9300, as it is more future-proof than the 6000.

If you don't plan to take it with you all the time, get the 9300. It's better for watching DVDs because of the screen size. It will do the rest of those tasks well, too. If you plan to travel with it a lot, especially if you plan to be walking around with it, I would get the 6000. The 9300 is just too big for everyday travel.

The 9300 has much more capable video options and its position in the market (high end) will keep that advantage over the budget-mainstream 6000.

Note that the 6000 with Intel video cannot be upgraded in any way.

If you get a 6000, make sure you get the 128MB x300 card. Otherwise, it's just not worth it.

None. XPS Gen 2. For your eyes and for performance. Excellent screen and killer performance, on top of that 750 bucks off. Run and get it, 3 years warranty is a must.
