Hey guys/gals... HELP! INSPIRION 1000 WONT POWER UP???

Question

:smileymad: ok,  my inspirion is less than a year old and Im having some problems with opening the top and trying to start it up??  this laptop is drving me nuts.  I will push the button, and it sounds like it wants to start and does...then goes off.   I have to try again and again, till finally it gives me you know the bad page of....last good start.??:smileysurprised:   Since its new, I went ahead and restored it since I have the Ctrl 11,...to factory restore. It was good for a little while and now its gettin that way again. Any body else?? and if so,..what is the problem, and what can I do to prevent this? Lil,   If you can get it started, then you may want to run the Dell Diagnostics.  However, if the system will not start consistenly, then you need to contact Technical Support.

I agree with Rollie ... specifically you want to run ram and hard drive tests.

hey guys, I found the problem to my insprion 1000.  My brother works on these things for a living, and he told me to unplug the battery, and anything else plugged into it before booting it up. He said leaving the wireless card was ok.  Well, I tried it,..and it worked!!  Its been working since that afternoon I posted this messAGE.  I made a new thread about it for others. It wasnt always like this.  I also ran a dx test,..and it said I had no problems but that cANT BE TRUE.   Anyhow...it boots up fast and find, as long as my battery and mouse is not plugged in. After its booted up,..I plug my battery in,..and my mouse. This may help others. Thanks!! Lil:smileyhappy:
