I'm having a problem with 3 or 4 friends that e-mail me and the text of the message is blank in my Outlook Express. They have been able to get the message to me by sending it as an attachement, or from a different e-mail address - but this is a pain for them. I also have seen the text of the messages if I log on directly to my ISP to check e-mail, and then later open the mail via Outlook Express and the text is gone.
It seems strange to me that this is just effecting a few people, and they all use different ISP's and said they don't have any unusual features with their e-mail.
Anyone else experience this, and/or have solutions for me to research?
Thank you for your assistance.
OE is part of Windows, not Office, so you should post this on the Windows XP forum.
My problem is not with attachments, but with the text in the message box - and only from some e-mail accounts, but consistently from those accounts. In fact one of the ways they have been able to e-mail me is by putting their message as an attachment.
Thank you. I've posted my question at the Windows XP Forum. I'm not sure how to remove this post from here. Also your response says to check the Advanced Forum before posting a question - but I cannot see how to access the Advanced Forum.

You cannot remove a post. You can use Message Options to Edit a post and blank it out, but you cannot remove it.
Advanced SEARCH, not Advanced FORUM. Right on the bottom of the screen.
Oh, okay. I did try Advanced Search - and that did not help me. I was looking for Advanced Forum based on the standard note at the bottom of your posts.
Relaxer, I have had the same problem receiving blank "text-only" messages from Lotus notes users. I have learned that if the Lotus Notes user just pastes a logo or some tiny clipart to the email, I can read the text, no need for an attachment. The logo or clipart can be pasted before or after the text, either way I can read it all.
I also noticed what technicality is missing in the encoding for these text-only messages that are invisible: After the line stating encoding is US ASCII, my other emails (that I can read) have a line that says "Content-Transfer-Encoding." I viewed this by (with the email message highlighted) Clicking File - Properties - Details - Message Source. I can also read the email by clicking all this but it's not in a big enough window for easy readability.
I haven't fixed it, just found the simplest way around it for me. Hopefully Microsoft will publish a patch for Outlook Express that fixes it.
I had run Regsvr32 intercomm.dll, downloaded KB900930, and ran a few other Regsvr programs, all without success. The Microsoft Help & Support website says to contact your computer manufacturer if it was installed by them.
Dell refused to help me or even point me in the right direction, even though they installed all my software on this brand new PC. I know it's a software thing but I paid Dell big bucks for everything they sold me & I expected it to work properly. I purchased the 2 yr extended warranty & tech support, but it's only for Dell hardware.
HP tech support helped me free of charge with my photo printing software (not just the driver) even though my HP printer was no longer under warranty. Linksys helped me test my old router free of charge even though it was long out of warranty. Charter helped test & diagnose lightning damage on my old PC free of charge, even though they're only my ISP. Every company has helpful tech support free of charge except Dell. If you can't search forums & web sites for hours & find the answer, you have to pay Dell even more big bucks for a mere suggestion.
Hope my work-around helps you. Or let me know if you've found a better solution. Good Luck.

When you post your question in the Software - Windows XP conference someone will suggest that what may be happening is shown here.
