I reinstalled windows xp home edition and then I installed the driver. So if there was a default driver or something like that that came with windows then no i did not unistall a driver. If not, then there wasnt a driver to uninstall.

What model laptop are you using?
If it's a recent model when you reinstall you have to install the Intel chipset driver and possibly, if required, the Dell Notebook System Software. It is only after that is done that you should try to install your video drivers.
