Dell 8400 XP Pro.  LCD Monitor E193FP.

I received an email from DELL File Watch:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?releaseid=R83276

I downloaded & followed the instructions.  I opened & ran R83276.exe.   I then opened Display/settings/advanced/monitor properties/driver & update driver. Tried updating, message unable to find better/newer driver then you have installed.  I tried to uninstall monitor, problem then the "Properties Tab"  grays out.  Reboot & tried several times.  I tried installing the Driver from the Dell E193FP User Doc CD.  Settings stay as below.

Driver Page:

Dell Inc.

1/23/2004

1.0.0.0

Driver Details:

C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color\E193FP.icm

Provider: Unknown

File Version: Unknown

Any ideas, thanks

Does anyone know how to remove all Monitor drivers from Registry etc.  I am reading that my problem maybe old monitor drivers are stopping new ones from installing.  Though this is the only Monitor ever attached to this few months old PC. Then maybe I can just install the new drivers.  I tried Rollback, "Says there are NO drivers to go back to.

Maybe April fools Day (Late)

Dell File Watch sent me the email again today.  Same deal as above, I tried to install the new Drivers.  Still do not work.  When I hit "Update Driver" button message says "The wizard could not find a better driver etc etc".

Has anyone else  successfullly installed the new drivers???????

How about a comment from, DELL moderators PLEASE.

Man no answers here.  What's going on?  I have the same problem.  I had to reinstall Windows.  The device manager shows 3 plug n play icons under the monitor tab.  Went to Dell's moniter driver page and downloaded what I thought was driver but turns out to be just 3 files containing the following.  Where is the correct driver to install this monitor?

e196fp security catalog file 8kb

E196FP ICC Profile file  1kb

E196FP Setup Information file 2KB

Disregard the above.  Figured it out.  It helps when you read the readme files.  I was looking for an executeable file.  But I followed the following readme instructions.  Except your looking for the R83276 folder.

1. Click Start-> Control Panel-> and then double-click
   Display icon.
2. In the Display Properties window, click the Settings tab, and then
   click Advanced.
3. Click the Monitor tab, and then click Properties -> Driver tab ->
   Update Driver.
4. When the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box appears, choose
“Install from a list or specific location" and then click NEXT.
5. Check the "Include this location in the search" box.
6. Type the path to the location where the driver
files were extracted (most likely "C:\Dell\Drivers\R82652") or use the browse button to select the location.
7. Click Next -> Finish to complete the installation.
