i9300 w/ X300 Video Card--any issues when connecting to external LCD?

Question

When I purchased my i9300, I opted for the cheaper X300 video card (instead of the Go 6800) using the rationalization that I don't play games. Now I'm wondering whether this cheaper card would give me any issues if/when I decide to buy an external LCD (most likely a Dell 2001 or 2405). Can anybody advise whether the X300 will allow me to connect such a monitor? Also, I don't want dual monitors; I would want to have everything displayed only on the external LCD (in other words, the on-board notebook LCD would be black, nothing on it)....

You should be fine with an external monitor but be aware that you will be using a VGA connector from the laptop and not a DVI one.

a guy at notebookreview.com reviewed a similar unit and said it has been working with an external 23' HP LCD on UXGA and it works great even with DVD playback. Check the pics here http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2256&review=Inspiron+9300

^^^Thanks for the url to that review. Makes me want to splurge & get a 2001fp, or maybe wait a few months & go all out for the 2405......
