I am also curious on this issue. My preliminary fiddling trying to get my 6000 hooked up to our projector met with annoying results. I had to reboot in 1024x768 to get anywhere!

I am having the same problem.  I have the integrated Intel Media Accelerator 900 Graphics video card.  What should I do?

Hope this helps....

I was trying to get dual display working on my Inspiron 6000 using the laptop screen and the s-video port going out to a TV.

After about an hour of fiddling I found that I had to follow the manual exactly; i.e.-

1. Have laptop and external device turned off
2. plug in external projector, tv etc into back of laptop
3. turn on projector
4. turn on laptop

I beleive WindowsXP/Intel chip drivers have some sort of bootup 'plug and play' function that senses what is plugged into external monitor/s-video port. If you try to plug in your monitor/projector while laptop already turned on and windows running- things get really flakey.

I found if I followed the above steps the shortcut key  Fn-F8 let me cycle correctly between laptop screen, external TV or both at same time

Hi, I have an inspiron 6000 laptop and I need to use an external projector to give a powerpoint presentation. When ever I have tried to do this, I can only seem to get the computer to extend my desktop on to the projector screen, as if I was using  a second monitor to enlarge my desktop. You then have drag everything across to the right to be able to see it on the projector screen! After hours of trying to get it to work properly, it's driving me crazy! If any one knows what I am doing wrong, please help!!!

Also, when I drag the powerpoint window over, so that I can actually see it on the projector screen, the slide show view of the presentation will only display on my laptop, and not on the projector!!!

Right click on any blank area of your desktop, click on properties, go to the settings tab and uncheck the option for Extend my Windows desktop option.

Please lemme know if it worked?

Hi Dan,

Unfortunatly, I've allready tried that but it doesn't work - the projector screen just goes blank, and doesn't display anything at all.

Thanks for the suggestion though anyway!!
