Yes. Add 1 GHz to the speed of a Pentium-M to come up with its P4-m, so your 1.6 P-M will run like a P4-2.6.

Not only is the M faster clock speed for clock speed but it also runs cooler!

Pentium M is way better than a Pentium 4 Mobile. It runs much cooler, gives much better battery life, and is much faster for the same speed.
 
You got a deal, and how did you get your laptop replaced? Just curious what was wrong and after how many repair attempts they give you a new one?

the M stands for mobile. Which is Low heat, low power. = saves battery life, and doesnt make your leg sweat .. hehe
