I'm not sure if this will work. but inside windows go to start > run. then type msconfig. go to system.ini tab and uncheck oemfonts.fon=vgaoem. click apply and restart system when prompted.
That will only remove the windows splash from showing. You need to get Splash - search the forums for +splash +5100 and you will find the program info and the way to turn off the Dell splash screen.
Thanks for the help; that splash program looks like it doesn't work for a 5100, I'm not sure I want to try it unless it is known that is okay to use, thanks again,

I believe this is related to the "quiet boot" option in the BIOS, that's where it is located on my i5150.
