I would just lower graphic settings in the game. Use the driver from ATi's site.

BTW, do you have to pay a fee to play that game?

Turns out that Ati does not support their own card for my laptop. >.< But I ran in to luck by searching the dell site and entering my service tag. I came accross the latest driver for my card. The thing is, Dell, being the cool people they are, have not updated the driver sence 2003. 0.o So I installed the driver to find that it did squat for my texture problem. Ive lowered all the video settings to find 0 change. What makes the ground texture so different from the walls, buildings and people???

About WoW: Yes it cost money to play. How ever the game Guild wars requires no monthly fee. So why do I play WoW knowing this you ask? Two reasons. 1) Ive played both and trust me, WoW is alot funner hands down. Because their PvP system and questing/party only load dungeons, where as GW only has loading party only dungeons for questing :/
2) (the biggest reason) their background and story. Being a huge fan of warcraft and starcraft titles, me and other friends play it. If your just looking for a cheap RPG to just lvl up, buy GW. If your looking for a deep story and rich gameplay, buy WoW. Its worth the extra.

After my family got hooked on the game, more accounts were bought and guess who got stuck w/ the laptop? me >.<     ...thus I am here. asking for a fix.

ok the only suggestion i can make (being a former inspiron 5100 user w/ 32 and 64mb R7500) is to do a google search for "omega drivers" these drivers will help your 7500 do better.. however, how much memory does your card have there were 16, 32 and 64mb versions.  I've seen errors like that with other games as well.  namely HL2 when in big open spaces.  You may not have enough video memory if you have 32mb or less and even 64mb may not cut it combined with it being a dx7 card.  I could not fix the HL2 bugginess even going low on all settings, sometimes old cards just can't cut it.

If you have a 5100, i must say, you owe it to yourself to buy a Radeon 9000 64mb and install that.  It's not cheap, but it will breath considerable life into your machine.  for example..  7500 running 3dmark 2001 with a p4 2.4 gig got about 4000..  same system with R9000 was around 6000...  plus it ads the cool pixel shader stuff.  Hope this helps

Ill try the omega drivers, but I think your right. And that nothing will fix the card. I guess its about time to upgrade so Ill check the radeon you suggested out. I may end up just upgrading like I should have 5 days ago b4 embarking on this quest to fix my poor vid card. thnx for the advice.

ok cool, but i don't believe you specified what laptop you actually have.  i'm sure more than the 5100 had that card.  i say this because the 5100 is one of the exceptions to upgrading a video card.  the 5150 is the computer that has a R9000 64mb...  basically you order the card for that computer, not for a 5100 because the dell people will tell you it's not compatible.. but that's not true.  be sure you have the latest bios updates.   not all R9000 cards are shaped the same so it's not like a pc where you have standard slots.  I'd hate for you to but one and find out it doesn't fit.  and be sure it's the 64mb version, you'd only be hurting yourself if you got the 32mb version.

also, if you have a 16mb or 32mb 7500.. the 64mb version would increase your performance as well.. but again, that depends if there was an option.  for example.. when i got my 5100 there was a 16mb and 32mb option.  a month after i bought mine a 64mb version appeared...  sure enough, i bought one and that worked fine.  but dell said it wouldn't.  why wouldn't it?  same laptop, same chip set...

also hunt around forums.  there are a lot of crazy people out there who try out different stuff and this ='s success and sometimes confirmed failure.

Yeah I have the 5100, so I'll try to get the card you are telling me about.

ok cool.. also be sure you max out the ram (1gig) big help for games.  one other thing, i don't have the s/n for the radeon 9000 64mb, but out here on other forums this information can be found.  there were a couple of serious threads on this topic..  so just be sure you get the right part.  good luck!

no no no.. that's a PC version..  don't buy that..   search for radeon 9000 mobility..  mobility is the key word..    here is a result from ebay    this is NOT compatible.. but to give you an idea of how different they are for laptop vs.  AGP

you need to hunt down on the dell forum..  you can only buy through dell or used parts..  this card was made by dell and sold by dell..    not just something someone buys..   because laptops are not to be upgraded..  even if they can be..

I have exactly the same hardware and no problem playing wow on it (except some lagging at IF).

My video driver is from 22/05/2003, version 6.14.10.6359.

Did you apply latest patches to wow ?

Best Regards.

PS: Great game isn't it ??
