Did a google search and found the fix (wonder why I didn't spot this in my previous searches :P)

Just had to increase my virtual memory size. :)

Noir,

where did you find the settings for fixing this issue or do you have the info for increasing the virtual memeory? ( 256 meg, 500, etc)

Thanks

I increased my virtual memory pool to 1536 MB and that fixed it.

Hope it helps you too :)

Thanks again Noir.

However I really did find the issue about the stuttering video and sound.

Here it is:

When I first set up the system I naturally wanted to use the built in USB hub located in my monitor (An FPS1905) so I connected my mouse and keyboard to the monitor. Using the Dell supplied USB connection cable I then ran it back from the monitor to the computer and happily plugged it into an available USB port.

Sounds good so far, no?

Well, the system would boot up but always say that it could not find the keyboard, then go to windows XP and work anyway so I didn't think much about it. Seemed strange for a new computer to do that but ya know....

Anyway,

I bought another system a week later and set up that one as well. The only difference between the two was in the way I connected the mouse and keyboard. On the second one, I hooked up those devices directly to the PC, NOT through the monitor.

Whola! all worked well this time. No sound stutter, no game video stutter and now 3 weeks later still no issues. I went back to my first PC and reconected the mouse and keyboard direct and never looked back. both systems now function flawlessly. At this time, I have done nothing else like changing virtual memory, changing the video card (which I did do originally, I swapped the ATI with an Nvidia 6800 GT and it still had issues.I also changed the sound card with no luck and downloaded all the latest drivers for both, nothing worked at the time....)

I would have never guessed that running the mouse and keyboard through a monitor hub would have caused so many issues but it seems it did.

Hope that whoever reads this posts spends less time on this than I did and good luck!
