1704fpt flatscreen monitor/Dimension 5100- USB ports???

Question

the two USB ports on the new dimension 5100 system's 1704FPT flatscreen monitor don't seem to be recognized in device manager, nor do they function. the other USBs on the Dimension are working fine. what is the problem? this is a new system and the monitor came with it.

thanks. i don't know why but i missed finding any clear documentation about the monitor set up. i don't think there were any clear instructions that came with the monitor. just a very basic diagram. guess i missed the part that told me to go look for the User Guide, if there was anything.
