i really doubt that the updates caused that -- the bars are usually reported directly by the card and its drivers.  i can't imagine how a windows update would cause the actual signal to degrade

i can't imagine it either, but that is exactly what happened. i wiped and reinstalled: 4 bars. i did all the updates together in a matter of a couple hours: 1 bar.

also, after updating, computer doesn't resume from suspend.

if i had 4 bars to begin with, and no environmental changes occured, then software can be the only answer/cause to this problem, no?

maybe .. i'd try reinstalling the drivers for the card .. or making sure you have the most recent drivers
