Try this(assuming you have XP), right click on the wireless connection icon again and choose view available wireless networks.  It should say windows cannot configure this wireless connection. Now, on the left choose Change advanced settings>Wireless networks(tab)>and click "Use windows to configure my wireless connection".  That's all I got, so hope it helps at least with that one bit.
