When it come to computer users anything can be interesting.  In order to correct a problem first one has to recognize the fact that they have one.

The monitor may be awesome but for 850 clams I would expect it to be defect free. Pixel defects are a well know issue that some manufactures try to keep to a minimum.  It pays to by from a manufacturer that has a good reputation along with a good RMA policy regarding this subject.  I understand Hitachi has a zero defective pixel policy but I am not familiar with their monitor specs. Some RMA policies are absolutely outrageous.

Rim,

Actually this is not a pixell issue  I suppose. It looks as some dirty spot, you feel the urge to clean it... some finger print left... When you press or tap on, it dissolves and then regroups. It is like when you press on a LCD and keep your finger there. Not very important though. I still love this monitor. With my new system, nvidia 7800GTX included my son was delirious playing BF2 @ 1600x1200 and Splinter Cell 1920x1200.
I am OK with it as long as no more greyish spots appear.
Thanx for your comment, but that is not the issue.

You're not alone!  Just received my 2405FPW and it has quite a few grey spots.  Calling Dell tomorrow AM, this is not acceptable for such an expensive piece of equipment.

I'm also frustrated 'cause the 1920x1200 resolution is wider than the screen.  How do I fix that?

I just received my 2405 a few days ago.. no dead/stuck pixels, etc.
But I have noticed that text in certain locations around the monitor, text does not appear as 'crisp' as others.  Is this what you mean by 'grey spots ?'.  Also, I'm confused when you say that the 1920x1200 resolution is wider than the screen.. Are you connected via the D-SUB connection that was already attached to the monitor when shipped?  And if so,  try the auto-adjust funciton in the menu a few times.  Let us know what happens.

So I am not alone. Mine started later as I said starting this topic. For more than 10 days there were no spots. I had used screen test utilities, and no pixel nor bleeding issue.. RMA yours. ı am not able anymore, for I am not in the US now. I brought that one to Istanbul. I am OK with it unless I am looking to a clean white screen or with light colors.

The grey spots look like a fingerprint.  There are about 5 of them and one streak.  Very annoying!  I'm calling Dell in a few minutes.

I connected the monitor via the DVI cable.  The screen looks wrong.  The text is large and readable (which I like) but I must scroll to get to the either edge.
