Unfortunately, I'm not well-versed in graphics cards. I bought this computer for just about everything but gaming, so I'm not sure if it's possible to uninstall it or if I even should. Hopefully someone can help us out...
My Inspiron 9300 which I received 3 days ago seems to have the same problem with the_marys'. I will follow your suggestion when I get home this afternoon.
This appears to correct the problem just the same as changing the dpi to 96. Does making this change in regedit have any other effects other than screen appearance?
Thanks a lot. This really works very well. But I still see some glare images when I do "Alt+Tab" to go to the other programs. Also, the icons in my Windows Tray are not sharp enough as they would be. Any ideas why this is happening?
I got the pc this evening and I am still trying to get this resolved after 2-3 hrs. Any other suggestions. I see that there are red lines in between the characters.
I am having the same problem. Talked to a couple of Dell techs and tried several settings and they did not work. Unfortunately, they will not take the unit back because it is beyond the 21 days. I have checked the forum and there are others having the same problem. I very disatisfied with the response from Dell. It is obvious that this is a problem with the inspiron 9300 and they need to find a way to fix it. I am going to maximize my warranty since I can not return it and if they do not fix it I will talk to an attorney about getting ALL of my money back.
why dont you try wat u found on this forum? go on start and select run and type regedit. while in regedit u search for usehr and wen the window comes up change the number from 1 to 0. it works trust me , i was just as frustrated as u were!

1) in display properties> settings> advance, make sure that your dpi is set to 96.
2) in display properties> appearance> effects, under "use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" choose ClearType.

Start -> run -> regedit
search for "USEHR"
change the hex value from 1 to 0.
Restart, and voila!
If you need a more specified guide, call support. they have had this call many times.

Just got my 9300, had it less than 48 hours and was getting ready to send it back until I read your post. Any other ideals in improve the screen?
