Hi Mark,

Can you send me the DSET tool also.  I have a PE2400 and a PE4350 that are flashing constantly but no outward or event indication whatsoever.

Thanks,

Hero.Deus

I would also like a copy of the Dell Server E-Support Tool (DSET) to take a look at our PowerEdge 2300 (with RAID 5 card).  We also have the little flashing light!

Thanks

Have a Dell PowerEdge 2300 server with the service indicator light flashing.

The Dell diagnostic tools mentioned won't work for us because our server is running Novell 5.1.  Do you have any suggestions for finding out the diags?  Do they have a Novell version?

Hi,

We do not have any dignostic to run from within the Novell Operating System, but we do have diagnostics which run when booted to floppy.

Dell Diagnostics for x3xx servers
File Name: DIAG388J.EXE

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forums!

Hi I have got a poweredge 2650 in production, service tag: 6BY2M21, and I'd like to get the E-Support Tool (DSET). But there is not a valid link anywhere...

Can any Dell rep send me a copy? sarah.peng@uregina.ca

I have a PE2400.  Could you also send me the dset.  Also heard that log2txt.exe will also work. Can you send me that one too?  Thanks. doyle@dandy.net

Thanks for the link.  It worked.  My update is this morning I simply jumpered the chassis intrustion switch on the motherboard using an unused jumper from the jumpers nearby, and the amber light went out.  Didn't even have to clear the log, which by the way, can be cleared using Openmanage.  I tried to clear it before and I thought the clearing wasn't working, but now I think it was, but the alert went back on instantaneously because the open switch shows intrustion, not a closed one.  And I thoughr an open one was a go and unplugging would disable it.  Anyhow, all fixed.  Now I have got to figure what is making the pulsating sounds - the fan, powersupplied, or whatever.  And why won't the CMOS setup hold the low fan noise setting, etc., etc.  These old PE2400's are a challenge making them right and reliable.  But I am gaining on it slowly.  Tom

I do not have the dset utility anymore.  Just do a search on the Dell site and you will find it.  If your problem is that the light is blinking because of the intrusion switch, just do the jumper thing and you are home.  By the way, I decided on selling both my PE 2400's.  They run fine and I have two spare new motherboards.  I also have two sweet HP LC2000 netservers.  All hotswapable scsi's.  Make me an offer.  Thanks. Same probelm with 2400.  What is current link for the DSET tool?  Cleverly locked myself out of OpenMange where I think I could also find out what is causing the flashing amber light.
