You can always use the latest ATI catalyst drivers available from the ATI website and use the modding tool which I have linked below in order to install the drivers.
I put those A06 drivers on a couple of months ago and HL2 became unplayable, even at 800x600. Had to uninstall them and reinstall A05 drivers to make it playable again.
it was because of the Steam telling me the drivers were out of date i put A06 on in the first place but ended up having to go back again. Seems newer drivers doesnt always mean better!
I wont put them back on again but i might give the ati drivers a go.
I ran the A06 from the day they came out, and they were ok until the latest update, they still ran OK, yet Steam said there were not later drivers ... hence the start of the thread
They ATI drivers above work very well (or appear too)
