Dell sent me 2 sets of 4 CD's for my 6000. One set had the drivers and other 6000-specific software and the other had the XP Pro CD and the applications like CyberLink, DMX, etc.
No charge.
You can download the same and newer drivers at the Download website. You can't download the applications or the OS.
What I need is a cd that includes all the drivers and software that originally came with my laptop. Basically like a recovery disc to reset my laptop to how it originally was.
Since the 6000 computer is so old, it still has XP and other users disks will work. XP disks can be found on Ebay or you can borrow one from a friend. Just make sure it is exactly the same version of xp--home, pro, media cent etc. And use your own key that is on the sticker on your laptop.

This is a grey area some users are reporting being charged $60 (which seems over-priced) others are reporting getting the Reinstallation DVD for free.
