Do not tolerate the gap in your system. This sometime was due to assembly process. Check this link:<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> . It shows you how to remove and assemble screen.
There is a bit of give when I push gently on the display bezel...it's only a mm or so from sitting flush on the screen but I am concerned it will get worse. The cover is very stiff and must be putting a fair amount of pressure on the surrounding bezel.
If this is a common occurrence then I probably won't be calling DELL asking them to replace it as there doesn't seem to be any point. For future reference, how much would a replacement display bezel cost me?
Ted: That's not the gap problem he's referring to.
The gap is in the center of the screen bezel as you look downward. It may appear that the bezel is slightly warped away from the LCD screen in the area of the power button.
This is the way the bezel is cast and designed. It's normal for a 6000. It doesn't open up as you raise the LCD screen into normal position nor is it affected by tight hinges.
Neil: The gap is NOT an issue. Leave well enough alone. It's the way Dell designed the bezel, that's all. It's also part optical illusion because of the way the plastic thickens and curves out at the center. There is no fix for it. Your hinges will loosen up during normal use. Enjoy your 6000.
Thanks for your feedback everyone. I've taken your advice asd34567 and decided to leave things as they are afterall! Probably me being overly-fussy with a new piece of kit!

The space is "normal" for a 6000.
The hinges will loosen up quickly as you open/close the laptop with normal use.
