Can't help you but I am getting similar problems with my D600.
The Broadcom x570 device simply doesn't appear. I have a number of other devices, wireless, VPN and VMWare connections. Usually if I disable some of these the Broadcom device appears. However, sometimes it appears as a different device - but yet still works. Other times the system thinks there's an invalid PCMCIA device in the machine. On rebooting there's no telling whether the system will start or at what point it will fail. I often get a blue screen when connected directly to the network.
My advice would be to disable devices you don't need. If I get my problem fixed I'll let you know how!!
