Are you sure the warranty has expired? Have you tried making sure the connections are secure, maybe you rotated the monitor and lossened up something.

Warranty is 1 year, but not under my name since it couldn't be transferred.

Never touched the monitor, and yes, I've checked and secured everything. It's flat out dead, which sure seems odd.

Well, this got stranger.  I walked by the computer, and noticed the power light was lit (orange) on the monitor.  Now its working.  Didn't touch a thing since yesterday.  Any ideas why a monitor would behave this way?  Again, I'm 99.9% sure it has nothing to do with external power supply/cords.

This exact same thing happened to me on my 7 month old 2405FPW. Well, I woke up and went to turn on the power and there was no power indicator. I've tried different outlets and cables to no avail. Hopefully, mine will just come back on like cpizzull's did. Otherwise, it's the hassle of sending in my monitor.

Anybody know why this happens? Dell, are you out there??

Have 1905FP that is 3 months old and was working like a charm when I shut down last night. Went to turn on this morning, and the green power light doesn't even come on now. I usually don't touch the power button on the monitor, so I only start up by turning on my 9100. Anyway, I've tried different outlets, and cables, and nothing has changed. I've even held the power button in for 5 seconds.
Again, no power light indicated at all. It appears to have just died all of a sudden.
Anything I need to check or do before asking for replacement, which won't be easy since the warranty could not be transferred even though I bought brand new outside of DELL. Ideas on this also?
Thx in advance for suggestions!

I have had the same problem on a 1905FP that I purchased a month and a half ago: I had been working but after powering it off I couldn't get it to power on again. It eventually worked again but not I'm stuck again with no power.

Did you ever find a solution for this problem?

This is currently happening to my 1701FP. I think it is because i unpluged it while it was in power save mode.

What happened is I unplugged the monitor because my uninterruptible power supply battery died and i had to remove it. I unplugged it while it was in power-save mode and i know that caused the problem. I've had this problem at least 4 times before, and the monitor usually fixes itself in a few days. The tech support pages refer me to the "online technical info" for the monitor for
info on how to reset. I read the whole thing but the OTI does not tell me how.

All the tech support chat person did was ask for my order number and repeat things i already read on the tech support webpages, so that wasn't productive at all.

I believe the same thing has occurred to my 1905FP. I don't believe it was shut down improperly, though. Has Dell formally addressed this issue? I purchased my monitor in late April 05, should I wait a few days and then contact Dell for a replacement?

My monitor was still under warranty. I contacted Dell support chat. They arranged for Dell to send me a refurbished monitor. I haven't had any problems with it since receiving it.

After speaking with Dell, they are sending me a replacement refurbished monitor. I'm not too pleased that it's refurbished...I seriously hope it doesn't have any dead pixels, because the one that was working up until today had none. Regardless, if this replacement works out, I'll be happy with the way dell handled everything (given it was under warranty). Does anyone who has used a refurbished Dell LCD have any complaints?

Has anyone heard anything about this?  I have a Dell  E171FPB that has suddenly stopped powering up.  I believe the same thing may have happened.  The monitor was in power save mode when the electricity went out.  Now I have the computer on a backup, but I was sleeping at the time.  When I woke up in the morning, I powered the computer back up but the monitor would give me nothing.  No power, no lights, nada.  This happened once before so I figured, give it a few minutes, unplug all the cables, hopefully it will wake up.  After an hour or so I called Dell and they are replacing the monitor.  God know when it will be though as its near Christmas.  I'm using an old 17" CRT in the meantime, but it hurts my eyes horribly!
