isn't this the nvidia stepping, eg 2d appliocations don't run at the same core speed as 3d applications

3dmark o5 sees my 6600gt as 299mhz "2d" when its running at 500mhz "3d"

You've got me, I thought core clock was core clock? 430/1200.  I haven't a clue.  The card works like a champ but the 468 core speed has me a bit concerned.  I've never installed any of these video card tweakers so this is just the way it tests out.

Phil-

468 / 1197 MHz Core/Memory clock here too, FWIW.

I thought the 7800 core was spec'd at 450 mhz.

Thanks Anode, no the factory spec from nVidia for the GTX 7800 card is 430/1200.  I wonder what others show?

it's just an '05 bug, many people are getting incorrect reported clock speeds.  And no, a core clock is a core clock, 2d or 3d, 2d is handled by the cards RAMDACs which run at 400mhz and are unchangeable and you never see a setting for it.

As long as your NV Control Panel reports the correct speed, don't worry about anything.

I'm not so sure it is a bug because I get the same reported speed 468/1200 in 3Dmark03 as well and also Riva Tuner finds it? See image below from Riva Tuner.

Phil something really seems messed up with your config, why is your mem clocked at 299?  It should be 600 if you want 1200Mhz effective.

And I was stating, as I'm a long time FM member, that '05 does have errors reporting correct clock speeds for some people.

I think all the programs report the memory at odd settings.  I say this because the card scores right on target with other GTX7800 cards so the memory is surely not running at half speed like Riva reports.  What software do you use to verify core and memory speeds?  I'm at the office right now but I do not believe the NV Control panel reports the core and memory speeds?  Thanks.
