Pro Wireless 2200BG starts losing connections

Question

Hello I recently purchased a dell inspiron 9300 laptop and out of the box things were working perfectly. Then, suddenly, like a week later the wireless card just stopped working - it would pick up zero available wireless connections even though I knew there were a few around and my room mates' connections were working fine. So dell eventually ships me a new card and right off the bat, working great. well now here it is 2 weeks later and I'm having trouble again. Throughout the day I will lose the connection and I think somehow it's a problem with the wireless radio on/off thing. I will lose my main connection and then search for others and the main one is gone but the others are there,...a minute later, half of THOSE will then be gone...a minute later they are all gone. No wireless networks detected. Then as soon as I do FN-F2 they all come back. Not a complete emergency I know but a real pain and it is bad knowing that I am incapable of having an uninterrupted internet connection. Also there is the WiFI light at the top that comes on but then even while the connection is up, this light goes off and I don't know if this is supposed to happen or if it's a sign something's up. Anyone have any ideas or troubleshooting things I could try? Thanks for any help..

The Intel 2200BG and the Intel 2915ABG (same drivers) have defective drivers. I 'played with' the settings for months and kept expecting that Intel would fix the problems with newer drivers. Intel released several drivers, but never addressed the transmit power problem nor the variable transmit rate.

Get rid of the card and purchase another brand. The problems will never go away.

Thanks for the reply, I was afraid of that. Do you know what a good brand to use would be and where to find these wireless cards that go inside a laptop? I checked some stores earlier before I had dell ship me a new one and no one had that internal laptop kind. Thanks

Dell sells several broadcom cards. Truemobile 13XX and 14XX. They seem to be capable cards.

I purchased an Atheros card and am happy with it. The one I purchased is not the newest Atheros sells, but it had a good price:
