i have a dell dimension with celeron chip purchased in 1999. i have norton system works installed which expires in september 2006. i changed ISP from aol to juno turbo. the package came with an extra charge for norton internet security [NIS] for additional $1.95 monthly beginning february 2006.
QUESTION: should i continue with system works and return NIS disk for a refund, or, would i be better served to uninstall the system works[ eating the cost] and install NIS at this time?

First, next time don't tag onto a 3 month old post, start a new one.
It depends. While your Norton SW is current as far as definitions, is it a 2005 or 2006 version? What version is the NIS?
$2 per month is silly given that you can buy Norton products for free after rebates. I just helped someone buy NAV 2006 for a $5.01 profit less 2 stamps for the rebates. I'd return it, then if you're using NSW '05 leave it alone till September, then buy '06 or '07 for FREE after rebates.

Norton SystemWorks is a huge memory hog and in Windows XP duplicates the features of Windows XP (badly) and causes more problems than it corrects.

Renewing Internet Security is a wise decision.
In my opinion AOL is a poor substitute for a real ISP.

thanks rick.
i will take your advice and look out for the free version with rebates. i will then uninstall the SW 2003.
is it safe to proceed as stated above or should i make obtaining the SW 2005/6 version asap?
