a friend from french dell forum , WIZARD , just suggest me a very

good utility to monitor both core and memory clock , and also do other tweaking ( i'm little afraid to do so ...)

i run it , and change the powermizer setting, and this picture show the result , you can load it a this link  riva tuner

+ this utility can also reveal your screen type !

1-target adapter tab chose 128 bit agp...  2- chose second icone  3- clik second tab"monitor driver wizard"     4- observe plug and play part number

HTC1C46 = hitachi   SEC3150=samsung !  thats it

NERVEBREAKEER also mention a good idea , just search in regedit for these specifiq id

ok i finaly done a 3Dmark03 bench test  and compare my i8600 with my friends toshiba 5200 with FXgo5600 64 meg DDR

3DMARK03 result for inspiron 8600 is  1552    important !   all 3 test display setting must be set at 1680X1050

but you will have to change the desktop display to be able to run cpu test , because it did not support wide screen mode?

link for 3dmark03 gamers choice

this test realy put both CPU and GPU to hard work ! including complex directX9  graphique , and good news is my desktop is not even able to run the full test series !(ati7200-32meg with athlon XP1700 ) so it make my i8600 a real desktop replacement hugh .

more specifiq detail to come about tosh 5200 result

The ATI 7 series cards only support DX7 & DX8.0, on a hardware level they are not capable of rendering DX8.1 or DX9 effects thus they can not complete many of the tests in 3D Mark 03. Had you compared it to any even marginally recent (the 7 series used the origional radeon core, released July of 2000 three plus years is a long time in graphics...) desktop card your results would have been different.

Anyway thanks for sharing your results.

i actually waiting for my friend to finalize its review that we gonna  post here , and since i'm objective about this comparaison , i want is opinion before final posting .full compare review for this friday. we plan to get on toshiba forum to .

ya i agree my desktop GPU is old firtol88 , buts its my main comparaison point since i have play alot with it , and i was satisfy of its frame rate capability with recent game , so beat it with my laptop was a sort of target , and it does reach it very well , exept for DVD playing wich get me very mad ! i dont know nothing about direct X real technical stuff  yet , but directX9 is loaded and present  on that desktop , but it seem that its there to provide dierctX8 or 7 data ?

DX is a set of APIs which provides support for more than just graphics and is by design backwards compatible...

i finaly load HALO demo , and run it . this was really the most demanding apps i ever try yet !

what a disaster ! at everyting set to high ,1280X800 (it cant show 1680X1050 ?) the game play is horible , around 10 fps ( cant monitor it )

after set all at low , with 640x480 the game is more fluid , but not excellente , what happening with this game ? the minimum requirement is 733Mhz with 32meg vid card !

make no sense ,  2 possible reason , the game is really made not playable to compatible dX9 user , or our i8600 is not good at all ?

i have install HALO on my desktop , and its also slow , but less then my laptop , and the desktop is AMD athlon1700 with ati old 7200 w 32meg ! so its disapointing to get better game play with old ati , since i8600 w FX5650 as 128 meg DDR ?

fraps fps monitoring show around 18 with i8600 , and 25 with my desktop , with the same resolution and quality setting

I think you should be getting better gameplay. I get 30fps at a higher resolution with my old Geforce 460!

That aside - minimal requirements for ANY game (or other software - companies just want to sell as many copies as possible) is nothing but a joke!

most of people run 3dmark03 at its default resolution , so i add my result at this setting

to run it at 1024x768 , you need to set desktop to 1024X768 to , or the test not gonna work

You haven't installed DX9b on your notebook? If not; then you should download and install it!

ya , it does go to 30 fps with minimal resolution , but i think any game should be run at least at 1024x768 with a recent machine , and with this res. it go down to 18 fps (between 12 and 20 ), with poor game play

ya both i8600 and desktop are dX9b , had to load 9b or the game dont want to install itself
