I haven't seen any adapter, but more information available about ExpressCard can be found here

I've got the same complaint.  I just received my Dell Inspiron and found an ExpressCard slot instead of a PC card slot.  I also can't find anyone selling ExpressCards.  What did you do?  Did you return your computer?

Our salesman decided to keep the laptop and that someday there would be cards that would fit that machine.  He tossed the Sprint card and will rely on wireless service from the areas he travels.  He claimed the Inspiron had too many other features that he needed to send it back.  Go figure - salesmen!!!  Good luck

Elan Digital Systems has two USB-to-PCMCIA adapters that work with broadband/AirCard/PC-cellular/PC-modem cards.

Which USB-to-PCMCIA adapter you need depends on whether you have a 16 or 32-bit PCMCIA modem card. To see the difference, go to:

http://www.teampctechnology.com/product_detail.php?id=293

If your PCMCIA modem card is 16-bit, you can purchase the U111 for $130 at:

http://www.teampctechnology.com/product_detail.php?id=511

Delivery is 2-3 weeks (est).

If your PCMCIA modem is 32-bit, you can purchase the U132 for $192 at:

Due to the huge shortage caused by Dell's removal of the PCMCIA slot from their Inspiron XPS laptops, the factory (Elan) has pushed out delivery to their distys. We will not be receiving the first batch until the last week of March. We are shipping out the U132 in the strict order in which pre-orders have been received on our website. Your credit card will not be charged until it ships. You may monitor the latest known shipping status at the same link/location.

Because of the above situation, a current order of the U132 will most likely ship to you in 3 months.

I'm not paying a penny, let alone $130+ because Dell decided to force a futuristic technology onto us that's basically useless right now!

The XPS I received yesterday.. is going back to Dell.. for good!! :smileyindifferent:

Are you aware that Dell Customer Care is currently providing a $250 credit to those individuals forced to buy a USB-to-PCMCIA adapter by their removal of the PCMCIA/CardBus slot from their laptops?  You will have to ask for a MANAGER to get it.

That's interesting... I might just call Dell and see if they do it...

Should I ask for the Supervisor or Manager .. or are they the same lol..

I just learned that I cannot use my Cingular Wireless card in my Dell laptop because of this stupid Expresscard slot.  I contacted Dell and they told me an adapter was available and could be purchased at any electroinic store.  After I disconnected with the Dell employee I found out this was a lie.  I am quite upset.  I will probably never purchase a Dell product again.
