I dont know about the 7800 dell seriese cards but the 6800 GTO dell cards has lower specs.....dell uses only 12 pipes while nvidia boasts of 16 pipes.....this is where I have my problem with dell...I knew they were proprietory when I got my system but I thought they would at least have the same specs as the card developer boasts about on their site,,,what brought this to my attention was the loud fans running wide open all the time and this caused me to research and thats what I found out...they did send out new fan with shroud and heat sink  to slow down and quit the fans......but their not disclosing the not up to spec dell video card is what has caused them to loose a customer who was looking forward to doing repeat business....plus the fact that its been almost 2 weeks since Dell sent out the parts and no in hose tech has called yet to set up an app to come out and change the parts...I guess the dont want the parts back......if they do they will find out why the tech hasnt come out and make sure he does.....

no it works just fine, there is a problem with 3Dmark05 in recognizing sli, however it does not stop performance...just check thier boards.

People  8000+ is a GREAT  GREAT score on 3dmark05, I pushed for a highre score for bragging rights but soon became content with the marvelous gameplay my xps with sli gave me.....

Yeah, in all my research it seems pretty obvious that an intel processor and dual vid cards do not like working with each other.  Although the Dell discounts I can get make the price very appealing, I think I might wait until I can afford getting an AMD system from a website that tests the pc first before they send it to you to make sure everything is running properly.  I don't believe Dell takes the time to do this and that's why it's a hit or miss when you get your pc.  Look at the video card forum and all of the problems people have had with the drivers.  I personally feel that if someone buys a high end gaming cpu such as this, they shouldn't have to install all sorts of different drivers, etc before they can get the performance or even the system to work correctly.  I'm not saying there are never any problems with other competitor computers but it seems they are more dedicated to the high-end gaming cpu.   Then again, I could be way off and the problems listed in the forums equals to only 1-2% of all XPS 600 systems and 98% of people are gaming with lighting speed on their 600.

I am an avid gamer and have had my XPS600 for about a month now.  The hardware runs great.  The dual SLI 7800GTX's kick but(t) and I have not pushed their limits in anyway shape or form even with today's recent game releases set on 'ultra quality with 16x anti-aliasing'.  I do however notice a slow down when it comes to the processor speed.  I have the Intel 3.4 and it gets worked hard in the heavy games.  I would consider a dual core, faster P4, or an AMD to solve this issue.  The dual core CPU's tho aren't up to my standards to fork over cash for them just yet.

On the flip side, and I knew this getting into it, I purchased x64 with my system and it hasn't quite been smooth going.  The biggest issue is today's software just isn't up to par with x64 yet.  So I get the occasional compatibility error, or lock up during shutdown, but nothing I hope that won't work itself out over time and software evolution.

I've priced out the other performace systems, and VooDoo or any of those other machines don't put out for the same price that the XPS does.  You will pay more for the same thing, or you won't get the same level of performance......like when I purchased my system, Dell was sporting the 667mhz RAM when no one else even offered it.  This is my second Dell and I'm loving it.
