If that's the case and the problem persists on other computers and other video cards, then it sure sounds like there is something amiss with your monitor. How old is it? If it is still under warranty, you could go through the process of getting it replaced, I would think... it won't be fun, from what I hear, but it can be done and they seem to ship out replacements rather quickly.
Well... you got some obviously bad advice as 'degaussing' is only applicable to CRT monitors. Other than calling back and speaking to someone better informed, do you have another computer you can try the monitor on?
