Help with Inspiron 5000 BIOS

Question

I am having trouble updating the BIOS on my Inspiron 5000. I am trying to update my father's old laptop from A00 to A06 or A08. However, it seems to take forever, like hours upon hours. I think something is messing up. Anyone have any advice?

well hours definitely means something is not right. are you using the floppy or hdd update method?

I don't believe that there is a hdd update method. I think that it is only floppy.

What did you have to do? . . I am trying to update 06 to 08 and update aborts with message ' Update file is not different'
