Welcome to the Forum,

You need to install some drivers from your Dell Downlaod site.

Pull down the menu under "Notebooks^" at the top of this page,
select your system and then navigate through to enter your Service Tag
or exact Model and look for "reinstall guide" for order of Driver
install. (also specify Win2000).

On your "Downloads & Drivers" you will need to first install all the
Chipset Drivers and then Notebook System Software, reboot between each.

Windows comes with a lot of generic drivers, but Dell Drivers will work
a lot better, especially for Touchpad and Video.

Display Drivers are for external monitors, you will need to install
the proper (some notebooks were shipped with up to four different
Video Cards) Video Driver for your hardware. You will now not only
have more color options, but more resolutions to choose from,
generaly the highest will be "Native" and look best.

You may also need drivers for Network, WiFi, Modem, etc., all depending
on your hardware.

Ok, that is just left of "Notebook^".

Also, there are several "Desktop" Boards on this Forum.

Questions posted on the proper board are more likely to be
read by someone who has an answer.

Always list your System, (make, model, Operating System, software)
and again this will increase you chance of getting a good response.
