for me reinstalling windows is the best option to removed those unwanted items on your computer and right now its possible that windows could be corrupted since you have dll files missing on your computer. but you need to backup your important files or documents there if you reinstall windows.

I have no doubt windows is corrupted. After checking out my niece's new comp with WXP I was amazed at all the items I do not have and the differences I noted. The problem is financially I can't afford to buy Windows to install and do not know anyone who has CD. I did not receive anything with mine but power jack, old desktop mouse and phone line for dial-up hook up. No manual either. Unless it is downloadable I am out of luck. I have also been informed by Dell that I have invalid Service Tag and by Microsoft that I have invalid Product Key. From what I have already seen that precludes me from getting much help or assistance through those sources. Thanks for your input Kiker! :)
i think dell have several option to pull-up your account you can try calling their cust service and give any of the fallowing:
1. service tag (5-7 digit)
2. express service code (around 11-16 numbers)
3. order number
4. customer number
try to talk to their support they should be able to help you or direct you on what to do.
I have previously talked with Dell and they are the ones who told me that my Service Tag listed on the bottom of my notebook is an invalid tag number. There isn't a order number or customer number since I did not buy from them- the notebook is a rebuild purchased from a 'school' that purchases from other companies and uses them for their students to learn on. I guess I am lucky it runs at all! LOL! Dell said they could not help me without the service tag being valid. When I tried to access Microsoft for some diagnosis help, they told me the Product key/validation code was invalid as well. They could not help with any diagnostic services because of this as well. It was hinted at that my system might be 'bootlegged'. Just my luck. I will try Dell again and see if they do have any suggestions or options that I can check into. I feel any thing I do get done will have to be on my own, without any official support. Thanx for responding and your input. :)
Have you considered putting a Linux distribution on your laptop? You could download a LiveCD of Ubuntu and try it out before you decide to install. Ubuntu works like a champ on my 700m. And it's lots smaller than a Windows install.

Thanks for your suggestion tonebalone. :) I haven't decided if I'm going to do a complete wipe-out and reinstall or not. Have had numerous people tell me that is what I need to do but am hesitant to undertake that kind of action on my own! As well, I don't have copy of Windows XP to reinstall with. Am unfamiliar with the Linux Ubuntu you refer to as well. Guess I'll keep plugging away as well as I can at this time. The Mozilla Firefox seems to be working just fine at this point. Thanks, AJ. :)
