what is ad-hoc network.

Question

for some reason my sisters i1000 with a linksys speedbooster pcmcia card connects to someone with wep encryption and says connected to ad hoc. A week ago it was connected to my network but for some reason it doesnt work. The linksys software sees my network in the house but wont connect to it. Im thinking something is wrong with the card. When this card connects to the ad hoc. the link and signal meters have no bars. when i hover the mouse over the linksys icon near the clock it says connections N/A. it wont even connect to my neighbor. My other laptops i9300 connect to my network perfectly. my ssid is my name so i know im connected to me. This linksys card is having issues i think. Please help if u can. If any of u cant figure it out i will just buy a new linksys card.

If your sister's computer is using Windows XP, try disabling the Linksys WCM and use XP's own Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) and see if it makes a difference.

thanks for that tip. i printed it out. But i fixed it. what i did was reboot. I installed enditall program when she first got the laptop. She must of endital the monitoring program for the card. So now i protected the program in the enditall section now so it shouldnt shut down. Thanks again for your help. saved me a couple of bucks in buying a new card LOLOl
