2405 scrolls horizontally at 1920 x 1200

Question

I just received my 24' widescreen and hooked it up to my PC. Its detected just fine, and works withut any major adjustments; however, it will only display at 1600 x 1200 unless I specifically enter in a widescreen resolution. I have an XFX GeForce FX5500 256MB card with the most recent Nvidia driver (02.07.06) In order to get 1920 x 1200 resolution I have to go into NView Manager and specifically add that resolution. The problem is, when it's set at 1920 x 1200, the entire screen scrolls horizontally in order to see the far right. Has anyone run into this problem before? The card supports a much higher resolution than what I'm trying to get.

I had the exact same problem.  The fix was to manually install the 2405fpw R91058.exe monitor driver.  It was sort of hard to find on the dell website, but I finally found it:   http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?subcat=&s=gen&c=us&l=en&cs=&k=r91058.exe

Same exact problem: my FX5500 allows a maximum 1600x1200 pixels; and if I set the custom setting to 1920x1200, the screen scrolls horizontally. I've got the latest monitor driver, but no luck so far. Guess I'll unload it and try again...

I had to manually select the monitor type so it would show up as 2405fpw in the monitor settings ... just loading that monitor driver then keeping the monitor type as 'Plug n Play' did not work.
