If you unplug the AC adapter there should be an icon on the right lower part of the taskbar. Where are you checking? The battery information is usually in your power options in the control pannel.
Press "Start; Control Pannel, and then Power Options"
You are still on warranty, right? I would call tech support, there might be a flaw with the battery and they will replace it for you...or help you trouble shoot the settings. I know it is painful talking to tech support sometimes. In you Cmos, are the Battery settings both enabled? You could also re-calebrate the battery with the Resource CD. I will try and help you do this if you have trouble.
hi,i have looked in the bios and it says no battery fitted and in win xp in power options it says no battery installed.
it wont fire up with the ac unplugged, was a bit unsure to unplug whilst booted up.
but if bios says no battery inserted then i think it would just crash it.
the green light appears when i boot up on ac and stays lit for about 40 secs then it flashes very fast constantly.
time to sell it?? lol.
would be a shame cos it goes like lightening on ac..:(
hi,i dont remember seeing that in the bios,to save and exit from there i had to press esc on keyboard.
ill have another look later on in the morning as its 3.00 am here n im knackered lol.
get back to u later.cheers.(appreciate the help).
Press the "left arrow" key 4 times to highlight "exit" tab
Press down arrow 5 times to get to the Battery Auto-Learning utility
press "enter"
This will run a utility that will "hopefully" recalibrate the battery, just follow the directions on th screen. You will have to let the program run completely. It should reset the battery.
Another note, did you do a search to see if your bios needs updating?
hi.have checked for youre settings but they are not there,it has pheonix bios a23.
the battery bit just says not install with no options to do anything.
i ran the diagnostic(via boot options/f12)and it says inverter has failed, lol, which is wrong cos screen is working and is bright.

Here is the Bios instructions:
Enter the bios by pressing F2
Press the "left arrow" key 4 times to highlight "exit" tab
Press down arrow 5 times to get to the Battery Auto-Learning utility

Anyway, you could try this or call tech support.
