I suggest you contact Dell and asked them for an XP CD as well as your preinstalled programs if they didn't come with your laptop as well.

I believe Dell will make a small charge for sending you the XP CD but the other programs CDs should be free of charge.

Never realized that the Windows xp cd wouldn't come with my inspiron 2200. Wondering if I can make this a cd from what is already on my computer. What is the best way to backup other dell stuff on my hard drive so that I can erase everything and partition my drive? Any other helps or suggestions or answers to questions I'm not thinking to ask? Thanks for any help, it's appreciated.

The answer to can you make the CD is no.  Backup via Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost.

Just wondering, I spent over an hour today trying to get the cd that I'm supposed to be able to ask politely for, and maybe beg a little bit for, but was transferred many times and the customer service was awful. At one point, they said they'd charge me another $250 if I wanted the cd. Am I just getting the run around because they think I'll go away if they don't help me?

Does anyone know of a phone number that I can call (I'm a canadian) that directly gives me someone useful I can talk to? Thanks

I e-mailed them and actually got two sets. The entire process took less than 5 days IIRC.
