Dell Inspiron 5100 windows XP will not boot does blue screen eror

I hope someone can help with this    first I have 2 problems one. cd/dvd rom drive will not read cd/dvds    part 2  when I start computer windows tries to start then it goes to blue error screen error reads as:    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME      ***STOP: 0x000000ED, (0x82F8DC08, 0xc0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)   it will not even start in safe mode. *note I spilled pepsi in keyboard but cleaned it out, it has been running good until a few days ago. any and all help would be much appreciated. *I cannot boot it from the  XP cd because the cd drive isn't working.

Unfortunately the recommended way you should fix your problem is to boot from the XP CD and run chkdsk /r from the restore console. Seeing that your optical drive is not working makes this attempted fix impossible.
