4150 battery discharges in 5 minutes

Question

The power meter shows 100% charge on my Inspiron 4150.   When I hold the check button on the battery for 3 seconds, all the lights come on, then go off (indicating no degredation in battery capacity, right?)   But when I disconnect the power cord, the battery runs down in 5 minutes with no applications running (and 'Portable/Laptop'  power scheme).   The PC has mostly been used in docking station over 3 years, not on battery power. When I did run on battery I'd get about 2 hours. This rapid discharge problem just started. The degredation from 2 hours per charge to 5 minutes per charge occurred over 1 charge (not a slow degredation over time).

Assuming the battery is original, it's long outlived its expected lifespan - it needs to be replaced.
