i am glad to see that the problem with horizontal lines is not only a problem of the NEC 2080UX+. AFAIK the Dell 2001 FP and the NEC 2080UX+ have the same panel type (LG IMHO).
The customers in germany (me included) are very upset as we saw the horizontal lines in the display. Every NEC 2080UX+ have this bug!
There is a TFT-related forum which calls prad.de ( http://www.prad.de/board/ ). Although it is a german forum, there is an english area.
The original with the backlight issue was a A00 September 2003 B9D
Incidentally, the replacement arrived in a vastly oversize box with just the styro packing material from the original form-fitting box. No peanuts, no airbags, no bubble wrap, nada. The styro wasn't even taped together which would have helped keep the monitor seated in the styro. There was probably 8 inches free space between the styro pieces and the sides of the way too big box. Miraculously, the monitor was still between the the two pieces of styro although not seated.
All this and still arrived working perfectly... odd.
Anyone experience this with a replacement 2001fp? I am giving Dell the benefit of the doubt by trying to believe it was hand checked for defects before being sent out. Still though, why not send out in its original formfitting box? I was told specifically the replacement would be brand new, not a refurb.

look at this screenshot -> http://www.huno.net/cstm/rbek.gif
This are the lines you are talking about, aren´t they?
I gave my NEC 2080UX+ back to NEC, in trade of the NEC 2080UX (without the "+").

I have a replacement 2001fp after the first one had the backlight issue at upper right.
The replacement is perfect. No horizontal lines. No dead/stucks eithers.
Send yours back before your 30 days are up.

we are setting up our 8300 with the 2001FP display today. Our system is:
8300 P4 2.8GHz, 800FS HT, 1GB RAM, using the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB card.
1) where do you find the rev and build date info?
2) could this grain/lines problem be coupled with the graphics card?
Thanks in advance, hands crossed that we will not have the problem others have here, or we will be requesting replacement today.
