No, the slot cannot be replaced, requires the motherboard to be replaced.

Also, please use your shift key in future posts, all CAPS is SHOUTING.

You said it doesn't work.  That's what makes it bad.  It either works, or it doesn't.

We are assuming you tested both memory sticks in the slot. You can put 1 gb stick in the one good slot. There are some people on this forum who claim you can use 1 gb stick with bios a31.
I could use that 512 if you dont need it :).
