Yours is a lot worse than mine. Mine's livable, but only if I got the monitor for $250 or something.

Take a look here, too:

Also, here's a review comparing the Dell 2007WFP to the ViewSonic VA2012wb:

The Dell "is better," but he was lucky to get a decent monitor (better than mine, I think). This monitor would've been perfect had it not had this one issue.

Color cubes show up fine. Banding is gradients when scaling a color's shades of lightness/darkness.

was he aware of the situation that almost all monitors have the same problem? Or did he say he will send you a new revison model?

Good luck, I may call them tonight.

Said it'd be same model (I don't think he understood what I meant about a new revision), and when I asked if Dell was aware of the issue, the reaction to it, or if my case would be forwarded to a higher level of support, I got flimflam. Chris M., where are you? My case is number 131274160.

Here's a picture of banding in Oblivion, while looking at the horizon:

Again, apologies for the poor image quality, I haven't found any better settings with my camera.

I have a made in Mexico version. Like everyone else, I also have the banding problem. Though noticeable on gradient tests, I didn't realize how bad it was until I loaded up my AOL. (I get AOL for free, so no jokes please) Anyway, I noticed some serious banding issues on the wallpaper. DELL needs to issue a statement on what they plan to do for customers who have already bought this monitor. I want to know if they will replace our monitors when a new revision comes out. I don't think I will keep it unless they say something along the lines of that. The banding is quite bad.

Note: The horizontal lines aren't there, it's just the photo. I am referring to the arches around/above the mooon.

Wow, Ryan, that's sick. You really deserve a new one. I feel bad complaining about mine when a lot of other people's are way worse... but I paid, too. I want my money's worth.

This is wrong. I waited so long to buy an LCD (you know, wait till they perfect the technology) and I wind up with a panel that can't even display a dark blue to light blue gradient without banding. I DO USE THIS FOR PHOT EDITING AND MULTIMEDIA WORK. So what are you going to do Dell? I am considering returning the monitor, but I gave away my old one already. Perhaps some compensation is in order?

I can not believe we did not see any news from DELL or The moderator of this forum. Will you really be so ignorant to this deception of this product?

This is like selling a Dell Pentium 4 3400, but getting a system with a performance of Pentium III 600. These monitors can not display all 32-bit colors, they belong to 80s era. Is this your thanks to this community and customers who made you #1 in LCD monitor sales (according to dell)?

Word of mouth is the best and most trusted advertising. Most LCD purchases are based on reviews, peer suggestions, etc... By being silent/ignorant you are helping more speculations.

So what is Dell's solution? I am not calling your genius(!) customer service until we got explanation, because all they will do is to say Sorry and send the same model with the same problem (unless you enjoy cost of multiple exchanges per customer).

Please advice, you owe us!

Yes, the tech support suggest to hit Ctrl key anf F11 key to reinstall the operating system, if the problem is not go away, then call back. My case number is 131119668. beside the problem with the monitor, I also have 2 problems with the PC(E510), the media card reader does not read any card at all, when power up the PC, the noice from the hard drive very loud. The tech support suggest all problems will go away after reinstall the operating system. Sound very funny.

Can everyone post what they said to Dell support, what their response was, and how you got it resolved?  Thanks.

C'mon Chris M. At least give us some kind of a response. You should know by now that EVERYONE is having this issue. Whenever someone has a monitor problem, all you've been doing is asking for a screenshot, and then nothing after that. We paid good money for this monitor, and for a trivial thing such as DVI to be broken is unacceptable. If Dell won't fix this, at least tell us the resolution procedure for whoever is complaining.

I think Dell know the problem, but they don't have any solution and choose to ignore all of us.

I have a 2007FP (with the Phillips panel), and I'm experiencing the banding, too. It is slightly less noticeable when I connect my computer using the VGA cable, rather than the DVI cable, but it's still unacceptable.

I have two laptops and another flat panel monitor, and they can all display the gradient test patterns without banding!

This monitor is going back to Dell.
